Water Softeners

Superior Water Softening for Idaho Homes

Hard water is a serious problem across the Treasure Valley. High concentrations of calcium and magnesium leave scale buildup in pipes, destroy appliances faster, dry out skin and hair, and make cleaning an uphill battle. Aqua Source's water softeners are custom-built for Idaho's specific water chemistry — engineered to eliminate hardness at the source so every faucet in your home delivers clean, soft water.

Maintenance is minimal, but it matters

Check the salt level once a month and top it up; many households add a 40 lb bag every month or two, depending on hardness and water use. Once a year, clean out the brine tank and have the settings checked against a fresh hardness test. Use evaporated or solar salt pellets. Rock salt leaves more insoluble residue in the brine tank.

Call for service if you notice any of these:

  • Soap isn't lathering like it used to
  • Spots are coming back on dishes and glassware
  • The salt level isn't dropping
  • The system is regenerating far more often than it should

Most of these are simple fixes if caught early. Here's what happens on install day and in the first weeks after.

Is a water softener worth it here?

Treasure Valley water is hard. Kuna's 2025 water report says "All of southern Idaho has 'hard' water," and scale shortens the life of water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines while raising soap and detergent use. A professionally installed whole-house softener typically runs $1,800 to $3,500 with our flat, all-in pricing, and it pays back through longer appliance life and lower soap and energy costs.
